I mistakenly tried to open a time capsule to backup my laptop. The program has not been able to find a base station so I want to take it out of my system. How do I uninstall, or erase, or whatever it takes to remove Time Capsule from the backup process?

Do you mean you added a backup destination to the Time Machine application and now you want to remove that backup destination?

Go to System Preferences and open the Time Machine panel. Then click Select Disk. In the pane that opens select the disk you want to remove then click Remove Disk. Then cancel lout of that pane and slide the main Time Machine switch over to off.
