I enjoy coming to this forum more than usual right now because I'm still taking in the newness of my 2011 27" iMac, but it's starting to get a little annoying to have to wade thru countless posts that are not specific to iMac hardware.
It seems like every other post has nothing specifically to do with iMacs, but about general OS X issues/questions, networking, etc.

Am I way off base here to think these posts should be going elsewhere or moved when dealing with non-iMac hardware issues?

To be honest, most of the posts I see are about SSDs, fans/heating worries, or new purchase questions.

Part of it is that it's not really reasonable to expect non-technical people to know the difference between an iMac-specific issue and a general OS X issue that they're running into on an iMac, so it's not an easy issue to solve. Maybe a feature to suggest moving a thread to a different forum could work, similar to to the "report post" button? Perhaps it could even happen automatically if enough people suggest the same forum.

I doubt a sticky would make any difference though.

To be fair, this thread is in the wrong forum too.

It really should be posted here. :)

If you see a thread which is obviously out of place, report it and one of the mods will look into it and move it to the correct forum if they agree with you.

It comes and goes, but just in the first page or two that I just checked, I came across these:

Agreed.
