Time for the option to block 2g cel service on the iPhone?

Should iOS allow users to block 2g cel connections even if it lowers coverage area.

So in light of new allegations of surveillance and use of sting-rays by everyone and their uncle... who thinks we should have the option of turning of 2g service on our iPhones, even if it means worse coverage?
