(and not the dock...); you went to system preferences, and clicked on 'show date and time in menu bar'? try clicking it off, then on again; try changing the appearance (in the general prefs) from light to dark... and back. try relaunching the finder (under the apple menu: force-quit, finder, relaunch). and try rebooting your mac...
