Anyone who needs to have accurate time (as in millisecond-level time accuracy) on their Mavericks system should be aware of the ntp time-sync problems in Mavericks described in these two links:

I've loaded the latest standard ntp binaries from MacPorts and have rejiggered things as described in the first link on my 10.9.4 iMac. This has dropped my time errors down from tenths-of-seconds (0.4 seconds when I started all this) down to milliseconds. This is the accuracy that I expect in a modern OS, and is what I routinely get on my Snow Leopard systems. This problem has been known for some time: come on, Apple, lets get this fixed.
