Hello, I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. I probably should have done that a lot sooner, but oh well, better late than never.

Anyway, I did a Time Machine backup before upgrading of course, so now after upgrade, can I keep on using that Time Machine backup or do I have to set up a brand new Time Machine?

When I plug in my external hard drive, I can access the Time Machine backups, but its not automatic anymore, so I'm wary of selecting that disk in case it erases the old backups or something like that.

I've tried searching this forum, but still sorting through old threads. Thanks in advance for any useful answers.

It will prompt you if you would like to continue using the backup that you were using previously. Just click yes and the backup will continue on as if nothing happened.
