Newbie here - so sorry. Quick question - I just purchased a seagate 1.5TB drive - can I put 2 partitions on it - one for time machine (mac formated) and one for Windows (NTFS formatted) will that work if connected to the Airport Extreme and if so how do I do that with the disk utility? Thanks in advance

I am new to mac too and I think you can put multiple partitions on a hard drive although all ive done is reformat my NTFS drive to HFS+. I can tell you how to do that if it helps:

Disk Utility is located in /Applications/Utilities. select the drive you want to use for Time Machine (model, not name) and click on the partition tab. set the number of partitions to 1, format to mac os extended journaled, click on options and set the partition scheme to GUID. finally hit "apply".

I think if you select 2 partitions is will format one NTFS and the other HFS+
