Time Machine and Airport Extreme

Hello,

I was just looking for some advise, I'm changing my Broadband supplier here in the UK to O2, and was thinking about getting the Airport Extreme, so I can take advantage of 'N' wifi speeds.... but I'm a little confused!

O2 sent me a wireless router and I'm not sure if the Airport Extreme or Time Capsule replace this?

Are they a modem/router as well? or do I need to plug this in to the O2 device?
