Hi, I recently got success in getting my macs to use a LaCie ethernet disk (mini) as the backup drive for Time Machine - much to my delight. But ever since that the ethernet drive will constantly spin up then drop then spin up then drop etc (bit like a MacBook that starts to get CPU intensive). At the end of the day it's not a real issue but it's just irritating because I have to sleep in the same room... What's wierd is that it'll behave like this even when the macs are happily sleeping away (and getting a better nights rest than me (!) ).
I think (but with no certainty) that its actually the cooling fan at the back of the drive that's causing agrevation meaning that it must be heating up fairly significantly and frequently... Has anyone else noticed similar behaviour in a similar setup not even with a LaCie drive necessarily? What's it doing?
