Time machine and external drive

I would like to make some space on my external hard drive. How do I delete some of the time machine backups which are on it please? Thanks

You can either open a Finder window, click on the backup drive, and delete whatever from there, or you can open Time Machine and delete particular files across all backups by highlighting a file and clicking on the gear icon to see the menu there. (There are probably more options than those if you search how to use Time Machine.)
