I'm having a problem with time machine and spotlight showing mail that I have already deleted, by time machine I mean in the "current" view not earlier views where of course it should show.

Strange thing is, it is only mail from the middle of May back.

This is my current inbox

this is my current inbox as time machine sees it

some of that mail doesn't exist anywhere at all anymore (trash, sent, archived etc). It also shows in spotlight, if i select it from the search and click the "Show in Mailbox" link it doesn't find it.

Any idea how i can fix this, in particular the spotlight issue? It is really beginning to bug me.

I have tried deleting the mail folder from the time machine backup but once it was backed up again it showed the old mail.
