Time machine and time capsule

hi,

I just bought time capsule and installed it. I performed a first backup with time machine but now, I notice that the first backup was not done on time capsule but somewhere on my MAC. I have looked everywhere and cant find it. The result is my HD being double the size that it really is. Apple techs tried to help me with several manipulations but they cant seem to find the problem. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate.
