Hello,
I did a fresh install of Yosemite yesterday via USB flash drive. Installation went fine. I got a Samsung SSD connected to my Asus RT-AC68U router which supports Time Machine and it backups wirelessly automatically and has done since 8th December 2014.
After a fresh install of Yosemite, Yosemite picked up my time machine backup as it shows in finder (under shared) like it always has, it did a backup yesterday and have continued to since, i did a verify backup by alt+clicking on time machine icon in menu bar and no errors etc.
Problem I got is when i enter Time Machine it shows on right hand side all the correct dates as far back as 08th December 2014 which is correct however they all show a dim/dark red colour which brightens then dims, if i click on one of the glowing bars/dates it does nothing, all i see in title bar is Waiting... then it automatically goes/switches back to the furthest date it will go back to which is just backups since fresh install yesterday. The ones i can access has bright red bard, the only ones i can access is the ones since a fresh install yesterday.
I did some research and keep hearing it could be indexing, cmd+spacebar does not shows it's indexing anything.
I decided to manually mount the '.sparsebundle' image. It's all accessible but everything in my users folder except the pictures folder (very odd) has a red little icon and it says i don't have correct permissions. I copied the folders that had red little (no entry) looking icon on them such as Music folder with iTunes in it, and set myself (admin user) read/write permissions and the red icon goes however when i opened for example iTunes app it then said the iTunes folder is locked and closed itunes, so still can't solve getting my data back on rMBP.
I hope someone can help as all my stuff is on there and i'm getting very nervous. It seems more of a permission issue doing it manually, i wish i could just access it by entering time machine but it won't let me go back any further than the backup that was made after fresh install yesterday even though it shows all my other backups since 08th December 2014.
Thank you
Mat
