Time Machine backup hanging at 16kb

For some reason Time Machine can no longer backup up to my external Western Digital drive. It's now hanging at Backing up: 16KB of #

The drive appears to be working correctly. I've repaired it in Disk Utility and no problems found. The issue seems to be with TM.

Any ideas?

Me too, I have a Western Digital 1TB that gets stuck backing up at 2KB... would really like to know why.
