For the past day of so i have been trying to backup my files,
im not using the Time Capsule but an external HDD for backups etc
but since the new update of 10.6.2 it keeps disconnecting my hard drive
after about 10 seconds.
I have tried to quickly do a disk utility check on it, but its not on the list

Is there anyway to get a new driver for it or something as i have important documents on there that need to accessed.

Hope you can help.

There seems to be a problem with SL and Time Machine. There are lots of reports on apple support forum under "time capsule" (even from people who are using time machine without time capsule, like you).
I'm also having some issues with that. For the time being, I've found no solution...

What format is your external drive? I think Time Machine requires the format to be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and many external drives ship formatted to FAT32. That might be the problem

Thanks fscarpa

mines was formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) it was fine for about a year then just kept on disconnecting
hope apple get this fixed
