Time Machine backup keeps stalling

Apart from reinstalling OS X, I'm stumped on what to do now.

The issue I'm having is that the Time Machine backup keeps stalling, it gets to a certain point (usually Zero KB, 57.6MB or 300MB of whatever backing up) and it just stays there, I left it on overnight and it didn't finish, it just stayed at that point.

I've tried all the fixes I could find on the internet (delete .inProgress file, disconnect drive, restarting, formatting drive, everything)

Deleting the inProgress file or formatting the drive and restarting works as a temporary fix but it comes back again after a day.

I tried 3 different drives, I still get same issues on all of them, so I can rule out a failing drive.

Any suggestions? At this point it looks like I'll have to reinstall OS X.

(I'm running OS X Yosemite on 13" 2015 retina MacBook Pro, if that helps)

Open the Console application in /Applications/Utilities folder, click on All Messages, enter "backupd" in the searchbar and see if anything might be logged as to why Time Machine might be stuck.

I would suggest giving AppleCare a phone call and see if they can help. Something does not look correct from the console log.
