What a nightmare. I end up losing my Time Machine backup.

It all started when I asked by the an update on my iMac to install MacOS Monterey. I was running MacOS Mojave.
A 40 min after the iMac restarted to do the installation I got an error saying: not enough space to complete the update.
Apple support couldn't explain why the update didn't alert me before the update that I need 14GB available for it.
I had to erase my SSD and download again the MacOS but this time as a fresh installation. The last Time Machine backup that I had was from 6/2020, the last time I used my Apple Time Capsule. I was able to save some of the data. After the backup as finished, I went and formatted my Time Capsule (was a mistake) in order to free some space, and removed some backups from my ex wife MacBook. A week after I notice that I cant run 32bit games, and softwares on Monterey, so I decided to downgrade the MacOS back to Mojave. I run the last backup on the Time Machine, and installed the Mojave, only to find out that I can't use the backup, because of different files system between the 2 version of the MacOSs. Then I update my iMac back to Monterey just that I can load my backup and save it locally on another storage. When I was opening the Migration Assistant to load the back backup I saw that there is a few Macintosh HD Data. I called back to Apple support, and senior adviser told me that it happened when the first installation never complete because out of space. Even the advisor didn't knew how to fix it and she transferred me to another department that said that we need to format the SSD again but the right way this time. After the Monterey came back I couldn't believe that the backup on the Time Machine was gone. Apparently when I formatted the SSD with all the Macintosh HD DATA was impacting the backup somehow. Migration Assistant show the backup, but it was saying that no volume found for backup.

I can't help you get the backup back.

But I CAN offer you some advice:

STOP USING time machine, and START USING a backup utility that won't let you down:
CarbonCopyCloner
or
SuperDuper

If you had been using either of these, you would not be where are you are now.

BOTH are FREE to download and use for 30 days.
I suggest you try both of them.
If you don't like the cloned backups they create, just erase and try something else.
