I'm getting the "Not enough room for this backup" error in time machine. The only use of my mac was to crop a pic I didn't have permissions for, now it seems like Time machine is trying to back up all all my home folder. To fix the permissions however I went and "repaired disc permissions" and also made sure I had the ability to read and write my home folder by applying my permissions to all within my home folder. Usually my backups are very small, now it seems its a bit over 1TB....which is about the size go my home folder I might add.

My only thoughts on how to fix this is to go back in time machine to just before I messed with permissions. But I don't want to do that before seeking advice.

Interesting, seems like TM thinks all your home folder files changed. That suggest you "touched" all of them and now they have new time stamps. I would hope that TM during backup will figure out, that files are same and record only changed parts - the size of new backup should be really small. But if it refuses to run backup, not sure what to do. May be someone has more experience in this.

Your solution seems fine - just seems excessive. May be someone has easier solution here.
