Time Machine Backups failing

I have a new 15" i7 core MBP.

now my 500GB usb (powered) LaCie drive is failing as a Time Machine Backup. Endless Indexing.. or drive disappears.

Tried my 320GB LaCie - 800 Fire wire and the backup was also stopped

??
