Hey, anyways I don't know what happened, one minute I was backing up just like normal, next thing you know I notice 2 dates in the timeline view suddenly disappeared. The funky thing is that in Finder however I could see both of these dates and browse within them.
I just want to know what would be the cause of this, please don't say 'time machine deletes old backups' because I know that, but as you can see time machine hasn't really deleted anything....yet...I hope, which is what I'm trying to prevent. I know for sure I didn't do anything funky or run out of space I have plenty of space, this just happened out of the blue. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some way I could reset or whatever the timeline view so that it could show the dates, seeing as how if the backup somehow got corrupted it wouldn't have stayed on the hard disk itself it would've just vanished completely. I already checked and everything in disk utility and the disk is fine no errors.
Edit: Nvm....they're both gone
from finder and the time machine timeline view, and I can't find it in TimeTracker either. I don't know what happened...now every baseline files that were backed up from those 2 time periods are gone now? Just like that? Is there any reason Time Machine did this?
....there has to be something wrong, I just tried something, I donwloaded something new, and I backed up with time machine, and then I went inside time machine and tried deleting that file right clicking and selecting the 'delete backup' option, and alas the whole entire backup directory was deleted! I'm come to the conclusion that there is a bug with time machine and how it deletes files, thinking that when you select a specific file or folder to delete and press delete it ends up deleting the whole directory.
