Time Machine backups

Is there another way to do a Time machine backup without buying a time capsule or attaching a USB HD. I want to some how get the hourly and weekly backups of time capsule (which I can't afford) and don't want to keep connecting an external HD daily. I do have PC connected to the network and have lots of storage on that I can configure one of the HDD as a network drive but can I use it as a Time Machine backup?
