I Wish I Knew
Is there any way to set time machine back ups to daily instead of hourly.

I have a 500gb external for backups and its now telling me that my total back up size is 97gb (as i store most of my files externally anyway). Since the 24th of this month it has filled the drive and will now delete older back ups. (I only started to back up on the said drive on the 23rd).

On the 28th it done 15 backups in one day so considering i only have 97gb to back up i cant work out how its filled a 500gb drive already.

Is there any way to set it to back up once a day or should i use an alternative other than time machine?

Simply get a 2 or 3 TB external drive. With large drive by the time old backups are overwritten, you will not need data that old.
