Hi folks.

My problem is actually just a minor one.

I have an encrypted sparsebundle file on my iMac (mid 2011, OS X Moutain Lion, latest version).
When I decrypt it, it is shown as a virtual disk in my finder.
All fine, so far no problem.

I have Time Machine set to hourly backups of my system (encrypted backup via WiFi to the internal Time Capsule disk).
When Time Machine makes a backup of the encrypted sparsebundle file (mentioned above) in its ENCRYPTED state, then I can later on access the file ON MY TIME MACHINE drive, decrypt it and find the data in its state at the time of the backup.
However, if Time Machine is running the backup of the encrypted sparsebundle file, when it is in its decrypted state (shown as drive in the finder), if I later on try to access the file ON TIME MACHINE, I cannot decrypt it. It tells me that there is no data system to mount.

So obviously, I can backup the sparsebundle file in its encrypted state, but all Time Machine backups of the file that occur during the time, I work with it, are virtually useless.

I hope, I could make it clear.
Does anyone know about this problem and is there a solution?

In the end it is just a minor bug for me, since I make regular backups, when the sparsebundle file in encrypted. But users that don't pay attention to this fact might run into unpleasant surprises (data loss) one day.

Regards

Sebastian
