Due to some weird circumstances, the hard drive in my MacBook recently died. I wasn't too worried, however, because I regularly backup my computer with Time Machine.

This afternoon, however, as I'm going back restoring files, I notice that nearly 18 gigabytes of my music from my iTunes library is missing. It seems that every single backup has neglected to include all my songs.

Has anyone seen this before? What gives? This seems like really unreasonable behavior. I'm thinking about contacting Apple on this...

Can you provide any more detail? Like what steps you took to ascertain that 18GB of songs are missing?

Is your iTunes library managed by iTunes and consolidated?

Yes, my iTunes library was consolidated and contained in one folder, on my main hard drive.

What happened, it looks like, is that the first two gigs of my music was backed up. Music with Artist's name from A to D. Then after that, the rest was gone.
