Hi
Im by no means an expert. Im quite the opposite. My mac had been running fine untill i decided to start using my external HD yesterday for backups.
Connected it, time machine set up, backed up.

Today however my computer has shut itself down (or told me i had to press the button to shut down) 4 times.

I went into the console and noticed it seemed to happen everytime time machine tried to automatic back up BUT my HD wasnt connected or when i connected my HD, but then disconnected it a short time later.

here is the common msg:
Mar 9 23:10:49 Drew-Davidsons-MacBook-Pro [0x0-0x3c03c].backupd-helper[428]: Not starting Time Machine backup after wake - failed to resolve alias to backup volume
Mar 9 23:12:17 localhost com.apple.launchd[1]: *** launchd[1] has started up. ***
Mar 9 23:12:22 localhost DirectoryService[15]: Improper shutdown detected

Has anyone noticed this problem?
Is it safe to say that my problem is squarely coming from time machine or could it be deeper then that?
Anyway to fix the problem?

Cheers
Dru
