I have a 2023 16" MBP and my WD 4TB My Passport Time Machine drive of two years just died last week and I'm looking for a replacement.
Up till now, the drive was plugged directly into one of the three TB4 ports but in the next couple months I'd like to get a Caldigit TB4 dock. If I get another WD 4TB My Passport drive and plug it in to the dock, will the drive mount on my desktop like in the past so that I can use it as a Time Machine drive? If not, what are good options for a TM drive that isn't directly connected to my Mac? Thanks.
