Hi all,
I set up a G-Drive Slim as my Time Machine back-up and checked the "Encryption" option and set up a password. The only problem is, I haven't used my back-up disk in a looooooong time, so I can't remember the password for it. When I plug it in to my Mac, I get a pop-up with the time machine icon that says "Please enter password to unlock 'Back Up HD.'" Until I click "Cancel," this screen won't go away. When the pop-up goes away, the G-Drive doesn't show up as a disk option when I turn Time Machine on.
So, to my question: Is there is a way to override/reset the password lock so I can keep using the G-Drive Slim?
Of course, I spoke with Apple tech "experts" who acted like I was speaking Swahili when I described the problem, so hopefully someone here might have a solution. This hard drive was really expensive and I'd like to fix it- thanks for your help!
