Couldn't find another post to add this to so thought I'd throw this out as a cautionary tale:
Was at a customer's system today who has been using BootCamp (Windows XP) to do all of her Windows-based office work and suddenly found she could no longer boot to Windows.
Turns out her external WD hard drive pooped out on her and for some inexplicable reason was prompted to use her 20GB Windows partition as a TM destination. She chose yes, and poof, partition reformatted, and initial backups written.
It then complained there wasn't enough space available and the backups failed.
Not sure for the reason as to why her 10.6.8 system would prompt her to use the Windows partition, but it did, and she is now out of luck.
