I have been periodically receiving a general error notice on both of the computers that I have TM enabled on. The message says:

Time Machine error:
Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume.

Does anyone know what this means? If I manually start a backup, even seconds after the message, no other error appears. I have gone looking for files that TM might have missed updating after the error appears, but haven't been able to find anything to suggest a problem...

Thanks for the help.

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have the same issue.

It seems to be random, and like yours, it works fine if you run manually immediately after the message.

Same issue here. It seems to happen when a TM backup wants to start immediately after waking my computer from sleep.

I don't think that I could say that this is specifically occuring just after I wake up the computer since it also happens even when I am actively using the computer. I forgot to mention that this occurs on both a Mac Pro and MB Pro.
