Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'd be curious to know whether I'm inviting trouble by keeping my Time Machine drive on all the time? I'd never really thought about it before but, like my iMac, I virtually never turn it off---except the external drive obviously doesn't have a sleep mode. Bad idea?

Using OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro, 1Tb by the way.

Thanks.

It's fine, fortunately you bought a high quality drive and enclosure so leaving in on 24/7 should be no problem. I do the same with my 4+ year old iMac, I use a LaCie Quadra d2 as my TM drive.

Thanks for the reassurance. I guess all the reading I've been doing here recently about drives failing was spooking me.
