Hi....

Time Machine failed with "this problem may be temporary." Disk Utility verified disk. Backup still failed. I shut down MacMini and backup drive. On start up, the backup drive is thrashing. MDS is taking up 30% CPU, so I figure the backup drive is being spotlighted. But, the magnify glass at upper right screen doesn't have the blinking dot. Also the backup drive is almost full, and the available space keeps changing. It's now 711MB out 80GB.

Should I just wait to see if the backup drive settles down? It's been about 30 min.

Thanks.

Generally, my advice is to leave Spotlight and TM alone to do their thing. Spotlight is actually an integral part of TM; the two are heavily connected.
