Time Machine fails on 4TB backup

I have a Mac Pro that has two 2TB hard drives that need's a backup. The backup location is an Ethernet LaCie 5Big, 10TB backup server which is configured for RAID 5 and Time Machine has been enabled for the device.

Every time the Time Machine backup starts I get an error that states "7.98TB of 1.98TB available" and the backup fails.

Any ideas?
