My time machine was working great. it backed up for days. now it fails every time. I have not used it much so I'm not too familiar with it, but from the stuff I read it's pretty simple. I went on to my external hard drive and deleted a bunch of folders that were dated about 10 days ago, but it still won't run.

Any ideas? I need to bring my computer in and I need the back up done!

thanks!

Open up the Application called Console in Applications > Utilites. Then in the left sidebar choose "All Messages". In the top right Filter box type "backupd". Post those console messages.

That will help us diagnose the problem.

Here it is:

10/10/08 6:34:09 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.backupd-wake[21066]) Exited with exit code: 1

Unfortunately that error message isn't very specific or helpful. Sometimes I've gotten much more helpful error messages.

You might just have to erase your Time Machine drive and start over.

I called apple and I'm bringing it in...again! I just had the logic board and the power supply replaced and they believe that time machine is confused. go figure

thanks for you time!
