Time Machine for each user?

Do I need to have a seperate time machine for each user on the MAC, or will one do it? Just curious like if I needed to get something on my wifes account back, but have only been using time machine on my account will that work?

Time Machine will back-up all user folders by default. TM does honour permissions so you would have to login as either your wife, or the Root user to recover her files.
