Okay it's handy and all having a backup but Time Machine is really getting on my nerves, is there anyway i can set the interval between backups?? I haven't found it on the syspref pane.

As soon as i start ripping movies and converting them to put on another computer (a server) time machine pokes it's nose in and starts backing up...... and it's really really slooooooow even on gigabit time capsules are poop!

think i just answered my own question: rip to a folder and add it to the exclusion list :)

im curious, how would that have helped the situation?

Because then TimeMachine wouldn't start backing up gigabytes worth of data for no reason in a working folder that would be deleted soon anyway. And it eats up valuable cpu cycles.

Just because it has gigabit doesn't mean you are using it. In fact, most people don't even use it even if you have 20mbps internet. Gigabit only comes into play in large networks, such as ones in corporate businesses and such.
