Hey guys, I have my time machine back up every hour and once a day it will glitch and say "time machine is unable to preform back up". This is usually remedied by dismounting the harddrive and remounting. (sometimes a disk repair). I have no problems with the other partitions on the drive.

When dismounting OSX says that the harddrive is in use and cant be dismounted unless I force dismount it. I'm assuming this 'in use' is also why the backups are failing to go through.

Question: What's using it if time machine cant preform backups?
