I have a 1TB WD My book for Time Machine..
but today when i plug in my drive for back up, it wont show up on the desktop or finder
I can see it in disk utility, but it wont let me verify disk or repair disk.

I don't want to format the drive again because i have some important files on the drive.

so, how can I make Time Machine work and access the files on the drive again?

I've had the same problems before (many times). Wait till you can't even see it in your disk utility. One option is to restart your computer and the time machine back-up drive will miraculously reappear (doesn't always work though). Mine did after a few days. U might want to try that. Is yours plugged in using firewire? I'm not sure if that's the cause. Mine is and I unplugged the firewire and use USB and it works. So far so good. You might wanna try that. Hope that helps!
