Time Machine has not stopped "Preparing backup" for a really long time. I tried rebooting and nothing changed. I have a 500GB external PATA plugged into the Firewire port on my 2.4 ghz penryn macbook pro. Does anybody know whats up with this?

i slapped leopard on my powerbook last night and had the same problem.
i just deleted everything on my external hard drive, and then clicked backup now, and it worked right away
