Hello all...I'm having some issues figuring out if my Time Machine is backing up properly (please excuse my ignorance as I am new from a PC)...I have my MBP hooked up to an external HD via USB cable. I have selected the drive as my Time Machine back up location. I erased the drive prior to setting it up and ensured it was formatted in a Mac OS compatible format.

When I do my initial backup it takes a long time (which I understand is normal) and everything is backed up properly. However if I make a change to a file (ie a Pages file) and then click on Time Machine > Backup Now, the changes I made are not seen when I click on the icon for the External Drive and navigate to the file.

But when I click on the Time Machine icon in the dock, the changes are recorded in the Today (Now) screen. Is this screen ("Today - Now") an actual backup? Should I not be able to locate the changed file when I navigate to the "Latest" folder in the actual hard drive itself?

Im just not sure it is capturing the changes to the files I am making.

Thanks in advance.
