Time Machine in progress for ages?

In the disk that my TM backup is, i find this file thats there for a few hours as in the pic...

...doing nothing, not even working when ask for info regarding it.
Could it be that the backed up file is so large and its taking all this time? Its there saying "calculating size". Could it be damaged?
What on earth is it up to?

I've seen these and I don't think it's anything to worry about. I believe they can get left over if a backup is interrupted (for example, by a user shutting down the system). In my experience, the "inProgress" folders get deleted during a subsequent backup.
