Herro,

I just had a quick question. Is it safe to restore a time machine backup onto a ssd? The time machine backup was made after I originally set up this ssd.

I plan on using a linux livecd to secure erase the ssd back to factory defaults. I was wondering if I can take a shortcut and restore OSX, or if I would be better off doing a fresh reinstall.

There shouldnt be any performance issues or degrading if you restore to an SSD from a Time Machine back up. In my experience I havent had any slow performances from restoring to an SSD, it still feels like a clean install as basically thats what it will be doing at any rate.
Just erase the SSD the way you prefer and restore just like you would any other drive.
