I know MacRumors is not a support forum, but thought I would have a go and see if any of you guys had any ideas.
I recently did an archive and install on my iMac because it seemed to be having a lot of difficulty with even routine operations (mail, surfing, etc.)
Since then Time Machine is insisting on creating a new backup for the machine, not a large back-up (e.g. of all the new and archived system files) but a new backup of the whole drive. I've tried various ideas to solve it and force the machine to recognise there's a backup set already there, from rebooting, resetting and changing device names. Sadly none have worked.
Does anyone have any ideas I could try? I'd love to avoid having to do a 200gb backup from scratch if I can, and will send appropriate amounts of good karma to the posters of helpful ideas.
