OK, so I am receiving a Retina MacBook Pro next week and I am simply trying to put all of my iTunes files onto an external drive from this current 2010 MBP. I completely forgot that I used this external drive YEARS ago for Time Machine and the drive itself has not been turned on until today. It is a 500GB Hard Drive and has 489GB on it.

There are NO files on the drive but it says that it is my "Time Machine". All I wanna do is erase this damn thing but I can't even locate where the hell that huge backup is..

I opened up the Time Machine App and we won't let me "Erase Backup".

Please help.

if there are no other files then the easiest thing is just to open up disk utility and erase it.

oh **** i didn't even think of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahoo, doing it now.
