Recently purchased a new M2 Mac Book Air to replace my 2014 Mac Book Pro. It's running Ventura 13.1

When I set up the new machine I did not restore anything from the old machine.

All I want to pull off of my old Mac Book Pro is the .photoslibrary so that I can load all my photos onto the MB Air.

I back up my old machine with an external drive. The new machine will not see the TM backups from the old machine.

Is this normal? What is the best way to pull the pictures off of the old machine running Big Sur?

Is this an OS version issue?

thanks,
John

The new machine will not see the TM backups from the old machine.
What do you mean by "not see"?

Does the TM disk appear in Finder? If so, you can look at the backups in Finder. If not, what does Disk Utility show?

Alternatively, connect both Macs to your LAN, enable file sharing on the old Mac, drag and drop from old to new.

If you can't get any further, do tell us what version of macOS is on the old Mac.

good question, yes TM disk appears in finder and can only see the new machines backup, not the old machine.

I can try connecting them to a LAN, but I have never done that before.

Old Mac OS is Big Sur.
