Time Machine Issue

When I am accessing the menu bar icon for Time Machine via option + click TM icon, there is NO option for Verify Backup !! It's not that it's "greyed out", it's just not even evident!!

I'm trying to Verify my first ever backup with Time Machine to an external WD My Passport for Mac 4TB HDD.

Any and all suggestion/direction appreciated.

Having used TM since it first arrived on the scene, in all that time I have never seen a "Verify Backup" menu option, at least not on my installations.
I will mention that TM is not my primary backup, I use CCC primarily because it is much quicker to get back up and running when a problem occurs.

edit:
It appears in all that time I also missed the "Option+Click" thingy.
I'm running High Sierra on HFS and "Verify Backups" is greyed out for me also.

Hmmm... I'm on Mojave and option click shows a greyed out Verify Backups for me. My disk is encrypted, so I wonder if that is why it is greyed out?

I'm on Mojave 10.14.2 and my disk is NOT encrypted. I see a greyed out "Verify Backups" when doing an option click also.

It appears Verify only works with Time Capsule networked backups.
Regular HDD backups can be verified using Terminal commands, I tried it and it works but it is very very slow.

Thanks for all your responses/input. Might you take a look at the attached files/screenshots and assess for me?
Sorry, tried to attach a few screenshots and it seems that there is no option here to do so??
