Ok, so I sent off my macbook to get its trackpad fixed (apparently they fixed the optical drive too).
When I get it back, time machine no longer recognizes it as the same machine. What i mean is it is trying to start a whole new backup and won't use the old one and treats the old one like it's a different machine's. Which I don't have enough room on my hard drive for it to do (which is who I found out). And it also means I can't pull files from the old backup either.
How do I get Time Machine to start using the original backup?
