Im having issues with Time Machine regularly failing to backup wirelessly to my NAS (QNAP 219P+). It will regularly "lose" the server as it tries a new backup when I restart the machine.

When I open Time Machine preferences the backup partition is there, when I select it, it opens the name and password screen but it ALWAYS default to the mac system username, not the Time Machine QNAP username. I have to manually enter it each time, along with the password, and then Time Machine successfully backs up.

Why cant the mac remember the login information for Time Machine so that it can backup without manual intervention?

If its any use, I have a 2008 Mac, Snow Leopard fully up to date, an Airport Extreme router, and a QNAP 219P+ NAS physically connected to the Airport. Time Machine is correctly set up on the QNAP admin page.
