Time Machine Migration Assistant and Applications??

Hi,

I should be receiving my replacement iMac in a week or so, would I be able to restore individual applications (i.e Adobe Lightroom) onto my new iMac via the Migration Assistant, rather than restore the entire hard drive at boot up? If so would this bring across all the associated folders, files, etc that the application needs or do they have to be restored one at a time?

I have my Time Machine setup to backup everything at the moment.

If the app is entirely self contained with no support file/licenses etc in other locations then yes. Otherwise it's up to you to find them all: Time Machine has no way of knowing which files are associated with others...

^^ That's what I suspected, thanks for confirming though.

I was just a bit hopeful as software like appdelete does a good job of finding everything related to an app in order to delete it so I was partly wondering whether the migration assistant did the same thing in order to restore.

I may just restore the entire harddrive in that case....
