I plan to purchase new 13.3 MBP. Can I use my time machine backup from my iMac and transfer to new MBP? Not sure if new MBP has Lion but my iMac has Snow Leopard which I do not want to transfer over - just all files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Just make sure to install all updates on the old iMac first, then just use Migration Asst. to move everything to the new MBP.

When I first turn on Macbook I assume I will get a message to use Time Machine. Do I have boot up new macbook first to desktop or choose time machine migration asst first?

Thanks!
