So I recently sold my old Macbook which was constantly being updated with Timemachine. Thankfully I have never had to restore my old laptop. However, I am going to need some stuff off of my old laptop and put it onto my new MBP. Since I have never used Timemachine to restore I was wondering if it is possible to just grab certain files and programs rather than restoring my entire old laptop onto my new machine. Any clarity would be awesome.

Thanks

You can browse the Time Machine folder via Finder. Just select the external HDD with the TM backup on it and look for the backups.backupdb folder and extract your files/folders.
